Formation of Hidalgo County Emergency Services District 6
Hidalgo County Emergency Services District No. 6 began with a petition signed by at least 100 voters within the proposed district, which was then submitted to the Hidalgo County Commissioners Court.
The Commissioners Court reviewed and approved the petition, determining that the creation of Hidalgo County Emergency Services District No. 6 was both feasible and necessary. As a result, an election was ordered for May 3, 2025, allowing voters in the proposed district to decide on its formation. A majority of voters cast their ballots in favor, officially establishing Hidalgo County Emergency Services District No. 6.

In addition to the unincorporated Hidalgo County Precinct No. 3 not located within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of any municipality, the municipal boundaries of the City of Alton, Texas, the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Alton, Texas, the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of La Joya, Texas, the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Mission, Texas and the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Palmhurst.
